Joe married Kay Urich on May 21, 1967, at Liberty Chapel Christian Church, Trenton, Mo.

Survivors include his wife, Kay, of the home; one son, Alex Saale (Brandie) of Harrisburg; two daughters: Sondra Summers (Travis) of Hale, and Laura Barrett (Michael) of Waverly; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four brothers: Pete Saale of Chillicothe, Jim Saale (Kay) of Chillicothe, John Saale of Platte City, and David Saale (Lieschen) of Madill, Okla.; three sisters: Rose Douglass (Steve) of Chillicothe, Doris Saale of Brookfield, and Vicki Smith (David) of Smithville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Trey; and three sisters, Betty Jones, Donna Terry and Wanda Hesler.

Funeral services were held at Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe on Sunday, Feb. 8, 2026. Burial was in Stucker Cemetery, Laredo, Missouri.
