Lexington boys come up short at Knob Noster
The Knob Noster boys basketball team put 41 points on the board in the first half, and they never looked back as they topped the Lexington Minutemen 69 to 42 in a conference game a week ago Monday in Knob Noster.
The Lexington boys got 5 points each from Zach Melvin and Jimmy Patton in the first quarter, but Knob used a good pressure defense and some hot shooting, and led 20-13 at the end of the period.
Chael Lichte had a basket and a free throw, Trey Perez nailed a three pointer, and Melvin, Cash Cole and Cam Goodloe each had 2 points in the second quarter, but Knob put together another 20+ period, and they led 41-25 at halftime.
In the third stanza, Melvin scored 4 points, Lichte drained a 3, and Patton and Brody Neece each had 2 points, but the Panthers still had a commanding lead of 53-36 when the period ended.
The Minutemen could not pull any closer in the final quarter, as they only scored 6 points with Lichte hitting another triple, while Patton drained two free throws and Kale Sander hit one, and Knob pulled away for the 69 to 42 victory.
Melvin and Lichte each had 11 points, and Patton had 10 for Lexington, while Andrew Collier tallied 13 points, while Derek Yates and Tyler Brandenburg had 11 and 10 points respectively to lead Knob Noster.
