Shoes for Orphan Souls
Lexington Rotary Club is sponsoring its 25th annual collection of Shoes for Orphan Souls. Shoes collected this year have been earmarked to be sent to Africa and Central America for young children there.
The local Rotary Club has collected over 4,000 pairs of shoes for different countries over the last 24 years. Each pair of new, closed-toed shoes represents health, hope, love, and a future to these children.
Children in other countries don’t often have the luxury of even one pair of shoes. Without a pair of shoes in most countries, you cannot attend school, which reduces the child’s hope for a future, as well as the health benefits that a pair of shoes affords. So the local Rotary Club is extending the opportunity for the community to be a part of this worthy cause of providing needed footwear for children in Africa and Central America.
The club is collecting new closed-toed shoes or cash donations for the annual shoe collection.
Donations can be made at Brother’s Market and the Chamber of Commerce, or by contacting Dave Rich, SOS Shoe Chairman, at 660-232-1347. Call Dave with any questions as well. The deadline for donations is April 21.
