Minutewomen fall to Knob Noster after slow start
The Lexington Minutewomen Girls Basketball team had a rough first half, as they could not really get the offense going early on, and they dropped a conference game to the Knob Noster Lady Panthers 56 to 33 a week ago Monday in Knob Noster.
The Minutewomen got a free throw from LaNiya Davis, and that was it in the first quarter, as Knob led 13-1 when the period came to an end.
Things got a little better in the second quarter, but the Knob defense was good again, as Zoey Earnest scored 4 points, while Davis and Mylan Huffman each tallied a basket, and the Lady Panthers were still in command with a 31-9 halftime lead.
The Lexington Girls had their best quarter of the game in the third, as they put 15 points on the board with Earnest scoring 8 of them on four field goals, while Huffman, Davis and Ellie Lichte each also scored, but Knob led 44-24, heading into the final stanza.
In the fourth period Earnest and Lichte both drained a three pointer, while Davis had a bucket and a free throw, but it was too little too late, as Knob registered the 56 to 33 MRVC East Conference win.
Earnest was the only Lexington player in double figures with 15 points, while Aubrie Godwin and Jaidan Meyer were in double digits for Knob, with 10 points each.
