Every year on the third Sunday in June, families across the United States take time to honor the fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, and father figures who have helped shape their lives. While Father's Day is often celebrated with backyard barbecues, fishing trips, or a simple phone call, the holiday has a rich history dating back more than a century.

Boy Scout Troop 415 tours fire department

Boy Scout Troop #415 toured the new HFPD station recently. Led by Assistant Chief Delbert Goetz the troop was able to see the office areas, meeting rooms, the many trucks and the firemen’s lockers where they keep all of their equipment.

Juneteenth agenda announced

The Lafayette County Juneteenth Foundation Board proudly announces its agenda for the 2026 Juneteenth Celebration. The 2026 celebration will be held Friday, June 26, 2026 thru Sunday, June 28, 2026. Activities will be held in Higginsville and Lexington. The theme is “Freedom: Yesterday’s Legacy, Today’s Promise, and Tomorrow’s Hope!” Alcohol is not permitted. Everyone is welcome. Children under the age of 14 need to be accompanied by an adult.

New Cemetery System Helps Families Locate Loved Ones at City Cemetery

For undergraduate students, criteria include enrollment in at least 12 credit hours during the spring semester and at least a 3.50 grade point average (on a 4.00 scale).
