Archery Headed to State

Here is the press release by Truman State: Lucas Burns (OL, 6-3, 250) arrives from Lafayette County C-1 High School in Higginsville, Missouri, where he was a First Team All-State selection in both 2024 and 2025 and earned All-Conference and All-District honors three straight years (2023-2025). Burns helped the Huskers to three consecutive conference and district championships (2022-2024). A four-year varsity letterman in football (2022-2025) and three-year letterman in both basketball and track, Burns is a National Honor Society member and A Honor Roll student. The agriculture business major is also involved in FFA, FBLA, FCCLA, Science Club, Choir, and NHS while volunteering with local youth football and community service projects.

Lafayette County Retired School Personnel (LCRSP) met on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 2:30 P.M., at the FCS Office in Higginsville, MO. A general meeting was held with Dr. Brad Briscoe, Superintendent of the Wellington-Napoleon School District, as the guest speaker. Reports on Missouri Retired Teachers and Education Employees Association’s (MRTA) first-ever combined Legislative Day and Leadership Summit were also given.

JOHN KNOX VILLAGE EAST NEWS

Higginsville, MO, March 2nd, 2026 Inside John Knox Village East: March is coming in like a lion with the forecast of wintery weather on the first, but we are cozy and safe with stuff to keep us busy at John Knox Village East. On Sunday the 1st, we enjoyed church services (both on-site and in the community at large) followed by a lunch of Oven Fried Chicken, Mashed Potatoes and Gravy, Country Green Beans with Bacon and Onion, Beef Vegetable Soup and Dessert. In the evening, we enjoyed our Ice Cream Social. On Monday the 2nd, we had Exercise Class and our Ladies’ Coffee in the Gathering Room. On Tuesday the 3rd, we played Dominoes. We also played Noodle Ball in the Gathering room. On Wednesday the 4th, our guys gathered for some Billiards and we enjoyed Bible Study and Hymn Sing in the Gathering Room. On Thursday the 5th, we enjoyed the musical stylings of Gerry Barr and some Happy Hour goodies with our Chill ‘n’ Chat Gathering. Our Move ‘n’ Groove class also met in the Care Center. On Friday the 8th, we played Dominoes and Trivia.
