The Lexington Police Department and K9 Sasha have received bullet and stab protective vests thanks to a charitable donation from non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc.
Veteran Resource Fair slated Sept. 12
On Wednesday, Sept. 12, a Veteran Resource & Benefit Fair will be held at the Lexington VFW Post 4052, 3109 Franklin Ave., from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Lexington Girls Volleyball Team splits first two matches
The Lexington Minutewomen Girls Volleyball team opened the 2026 season by splitting a pair of matches on the road last week, as they lost a very close match to Carrollton, a week ago Monday but then got a nice win over Wellington-Napoleon the next day.

If you remember, in the August 5 Lexington News, we highlighted the careers of Kansas City Royals star players, George Brett and Salvador Perez, and I made the claim that I thought that both of those career long Royals should share the title of, “Mr Kansas City Royal.”
Minutewomen Tennis Team drops first two matches
The Lexington Minutewomen Girls Tennis Team opened their season last week, as they had a dual match against Higginsville a week ago Tuesday, and another one the next day against Odessa, both on the road The match with Higginsville pitted the very young and inexperienced Minutewomen team against the defending MRVC East Champion Lady Huskers. This was a tough match for the Lexington Girls, as this was the first varsity match for many of them, and they really never got rolling and fell 90.
Minutewomen shine brightly in Grain Valley Glow Run
The Lexington Minutewomen Girls Cross Country Team Kicked off the 2026 season with a great performance, as they finished second as a team in the two mile Grain Valley Twilight Glow Run, a week ago Tuesday evening.

American Legion Post 60 and the Lexington Area Chamber of Commerce invite all to participate in the 19th annual Freedom Walk on September 11.
Lexington FFA Chapter helps pack meals at State Fair
Members of the Lexington FFA Chapter joined more than 782 FFA members from 95 Missouri FFA Chapters and agricultural leaders to pack meals, a capstone celebration through service of the Missouri Farmers Care Foundation’s (MFCF) 2026 Drive to Feed Kids (Drive). The Missouri FFA Day of Service spanned Monday, August 17 and Tuesday, August 18 at the Missouri State Fair. Members packed 252,564 meals to feed food insecure Missouri families.
