WCE RoundUp Foundation awards grants
The second quarter 2026 RoundUp grants were recently presented to area groups and organizations. The following organizations and projects received funds: Teacher’s Warehouse of Johnson County received $3,500 for supplies for student and teacher needs throughout the school year.
Auxiliary scholarship
The Lafayette Regional Health Center Auxiliary is offering $1,000 scholarships to eligible students.
County Democrats to meet May 17
The Lafayette County Democratic Central Committee and Club will meet on Sunday, May 17 at 5:30 p.m. at Las Carreta Mexican Restaurant, 2009 Main St., Higginsville.

Sorority announces Achievement Awards
Laureate Gamma Delta Sorority honored two graduating seniors with an Achievement Award. The recipents of this award are pictured as follows: • Emerson Layne Kenney of Hickman Hill District #3 Northeast High School, Columbia, Missosuri, daughter of Ryan and Kimberly Kenney of Columbia, Missouri.

District baseball tournament begins on Friday
The Class 3 District 15 High School Baseball Tournament will kick off this coming Friday in Carrollton. There will be only one game on Friday, as the number 4 seeded Lexington Minutemen will face 5th seeded Brookfield at 5 pm.
Minutemen fall late to Lathrop on the road
A rough sixth inning did the Lexington Minutemen Baseball Team in, as the Lathrop Mules scored four runs in that frame, to break open a close game, and beat the Minutemen 8 to 3 a week ago Monday in Lathrop.
Lexington golfers compete in conference, district
The Lexington High School Golf Team ventured across the river, a week ago Monday, and competed in the MRVC Conference Golf Tournament, that was played at Shirkey Golf Course in Richmond.

Minutemen earn huge upset win over St. Paul
It took 8 innings, but the Lexington Minutemen Baseball Team scored 4 runs in the top of the eighth, and pulled off a big 9 to 6 upset win over the St Paul Saints, in a game played last Wednesday at Indian Foothills Park in Marshall.

LHS track teams both win district championships
For the first time since 1989, both the Lexington Girls and Boys Track Teams won Team Championships at the Class 2 District Track Meet that was held last Saturday in Carrollton.
Minutemen drop final conference game to Carrollton
Carrollton pitcher Ryan Henry was definitely the star of the game, as he pitched a complete game shut out, and also drove in 4 runs in leading the Carrollton Trojans to a 10 to 0 win over the Lexington Minutemen last Wednesday at Indian Foothills Park in Marshall.
