Lexington girls finish fourth in Highway 13 Throwdown

The Lexington Girls Wrestling Team finished fourth as a team, while Mireya Gonzalez, Izzy Hager and Lainie Schumacher all placed second in their weight class, in the Highway 13 Throwdown last Friday at Higginsville High School. A Lexington mother — who spent what must have seemed like a lifetime worrying about her imprisoned 25-year-old soldier son — told the Lexington Advertiser-News the morning of Aug. 14, 1953 she was “thrilled to death” with the news that her son had been released by the Communists in Korea and would be on his way home soon.

MoDOT accepting applications for Youth Transportation Conference

The Missouri Department of Transportation is helping build future leaders by encouraging youth to explore careers at MoDOT. The department invites students across Missouri to apply for the 2026 Youth Transportation Conference (YTC) in Jefferson City. Each year, MoDOT sponsors this event to give students the opportunity to apply STEM concepts learned in school to real-world transportation challenges.
