SF Track & Field runs at Carrollton
Santa Fe loaded up the bus and went over the Big Muddy to Carrollton for the annual Bruce Finlayson Invitational Track Meet on 4-24-26.

Chiefs get win over Northwest, drop contests to Carrollton, Lone Jack, St. Paul
Santa Fe with Norborne took one on the chin last week against the Trojans of Carrolllton, who rolled to a 20-2 victory in Alma on 4-20-26. Dalton Doak went three innings, and Wyatt Aversman, and Jensen Rehkop saw action as well in the spread loss.

Lady Chiefs tripped up by Lone Jack, defeat Concordia
Santa Fe Softball traveled to Lone Jack for a tough conference match up on 4-21-26. The Lady Chiefs dropped this contest by the tally of 11 to 1. Lone Jack bats were hot pounding out 16 hits on the day to Santa Fe’s 5. Tatum Fitzwater was in the circle going 5 innings, with 11 earned runs, on just 2 walks, and 7 strikeouts. Both teams played error free ball. Hitting wise, Gentry Ballenger was 2 for 3, and other hits came from Fitzwater, Chesney Warner, and Keastin Kitchen. The team then headed into the conference tournament.

Santa Fe track & field dodges rain drops to get events in
Santa Fe was able to squeeze in some Track and Field action last week when almost all the other activities were rained out. Wyatt Doak continued his strong season gaining a pair of first place medals in the High Jump at the Wellington meet over in Odessa, and the Bill Hamman meet in Lexington. The girls relay teams took home Gold Medals as well last week. SF Alumni Foundation holds annual Crappie Tournament
The 7th annual Santa Fe Alumni Foundation Crappie Tournament was a held this past on Saturday, April 18. This year, 14 adult teams and nine youth teams registered for the event. Baseball back after weather cancellations
The now 2 and 7 Chiefs played a baseball game finally after weather canceled all games last week. On April 20, they hosted the now 10 and 2 Carrollton Trojans in Alma. This game would turn out to be all Trojans as the team from north of the river won going away, 20-2.
Softball handles business against Midway
Santa Fe got back into the swing of things in a big way after rough weather, playing against Midway, on 4-20-26. On the road the Chiefs sprang for 3 runs in frame one, and held that advantage through 3 innings. Fast forward to inning 6, Midway finally got on the scoreboard plating 4 runs, but the damage was done as the Chiefs were up 11-4 at that point. A nine run 7th inning explosion by the visiting Red and Black smothered any comeback hopes to be held by Midway in a 20-4 romp, and win by SFHS.

MDC seeks public comments on potential changes to nonresident deer hunting
The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) is asking Missouri deer hunters and others for feedback on potential regulation changes to the Wildlife Code of Missouri for nonresident deer hunting.

Lady Chiefs ground the Orioles
The Santa Fe Lady Chiefs traveled over to Orange and Black territory last week for softball at Concordia on April 8. The Lady Orioles led one to zero after one, and then Santa Fe dented home four times in the 2nd, and 5 more times in the third to open up a big advantage. After a scoreless fourth, the Lady Chiefs added 5 more runs and held on for a spread win of 14-4 after 5 innings.

Junior High Relays held at SFHS
Santa Fe held it’s annual middle school track meet on Thursday, April 9, with many schools from the area showing up to compete.
