Husker Baseball Drops Pair of Conference Games

Things looked good after one inning of play on Tuesday night against Holden at home, tied 1-1 after one, however a series of walks and errors spelled doom for the Blue and Gold after that in the 2nd inning. After a pitching change by the Huskers, Holden sent one off the fence in left, and then blasted a home run over the right field fence. Eventually spreading the Huskers 17-1 after three innings. At the plate, Cael Wilkson, Brice Maulis, and Dalton Johnson had hits, with Wilkson’s going for a double.
Levi Kroessen started, going 1.2 innings, allowing 4 hits on 6 earned runs and 5 walks, with 2 K’s. Johnson went 2.1 innings, giving up 6 hits, 3 earned runs, 2 walks, and issuing 2 strikeouts.
Next up was a road game at Knob Noster where the Huskers played right with the Panthers thru 4 and 1/2 innings. Down just 4-3 the Huskers went into the bottom of the 5th still in position to pull an upset win before Knob exploded for 10 runs in their half of the inning to blow the doors open and take the win 14-3.
On the bump to start this one was Breck Green who went 4 innings.
He allowed 7 hits, 7 earned runs, 3 walks, and dished out 4 K’s.
Rylan Shockey was next, allowing 6 hits, 3 earned runs, and 1 walk. The loss drops the record to 0-8.
The Huskers are back at it again this week weather permitting they were to play at Lexington on Monday, then host Wellington on 4-15, and will travel to Warsaw on the 16th.
