Parks honor military service
The Missouri Department of Natural Resources values the tremendous contributions and sacrifices made by members of the military and their families.
To show appreciation to active service members, the department’s Division of Missouri State Parks is joining the nationwide Blue Star Museums initiative, a program that offers free admission to currently serving U.S. military personnel and their families. The program kicked off on Armed Forces Day, Saturday, May 16, and ends on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 7,2026.
While admission to all Missouri state parks and historic sites is free, thanks to the Parks, Soils and Water Sales Tax, some locations may require a fee for museum access or tours.
The Blue Star Museums program covers the fee at participating sites for those currently serving in the U.S. military and their families Service members need only show their military ID.
Participating Missouri state parks and historic sites include the Battle of Lexington State Historic Site.
