Pleasant Hill girls win Class 2 State Soccer title
The Pleasant Hill Chicks, of the MRVC West Conference, put it all together, and won the Class 2 State Soccer Title for the 2026 season.
Pleasant Hill began their journey to the State Championship, by winning the District 7 Title, on their home turf. They topped Barstow 8-0 in a semi final game, and then whipped conference rival Harrisonville 4-0 in the District Championship match. The P Hill Girls then punched their ticket to the Final Four, with a 4-0 victory over Maryville in a State Quarterfinal contest.
The State Final Four Championship Tournament was played on June 5 and 6 at the World Wide Technology Park in Fenton. Pleasant Hill faced Springfield Catholic in a State semi final game, and it was a good one, that went into overtime. Springfield Catholic took a 10 lead with an early goal by Claire Majorahn, and they led by that score at intermission. That score held until fairly late in the second half, until Pleasant Hill tied it at 1-1 on a goal by Haley DiMarco, which is where it stood at the end of regulation play. In the sudden death overtime period, Pleasant Hill got a goal by Kailynn Paschall on a nice pass from Ella Wiiliams, and they advanced to the Championship tilt, with a 2 to 1 overtime win.
In the Championship game, Pleasant Hill faced the Clayton Greyhounds, who had beaten St Vincent 2-1 in a semi final game, the day before. The Chicks took a 1-0 lead early on with a goal by Haley DiMarco, with an assist by Rylee Hull, and then made it 2-0 on a penalty kick by DiMarco, late in the first half, which is where the score stood at halftime. Pleasant Hill completely dominated the game from that point on, as DiMarco scored three more goals in the second half, with one on an assist from Lily Bouchard, one on another assist from Hull, and a final goal with an assist from Paschall. On the day, DiMarco scored all 5 goals for the Chicks, and they came away with a 5-0 victory, and their first State Championship.
Pleasant Hill, which is coached by Edson Ortiz, finishes the season with an impressive 25-2 record, while Clayton winds up at 13-10.
