LHS golf team shows much improvement

A very young Lexington Minutemen High School Golf team had many bright spots, and they showed a great deal of overall improvement this year.
Case in point, the Minutemen placed third in the MRVC East Conference Tournament this past Spring, and two of their golfers took first place in the Scramble Division of another tournament, that attracted a large number of schools. Following is a recap of the performance of the Lexington golfers, in many of the matches and tournaments from this past season: Lexington Quad: Lexington placed third behind Odessa and Carrollton. Sophomore Luke Miller shot a 47, Sophomore Wyatt Potter a 52, and Freshman Caden Murdock a 58.
Higginsville Quad: Lexington took first place, ahead of Holden, Knob Noster and Higginsville. Murdock carded a 40, Miller 43, Potter 50, Sophomore Austin Dye 50, Sophomore Jace Taylor 62.
Richmond Quad: Lexington was third behind Odessa and Richmond. Miller shot a 44, Potter 51, Dye 52, Murdock 58, Taylor 67 Quad at Shirkey: Lexington was third behind Richmond and Carrollton. Miller carded a 45, Potter 47, Murdock 54, Taylor 64, Sophomore Hayden Ward 64.
Husker Invitational: A large tournament, and Lexington placed seventh as a team. However, the team of Potter and Miller were the Champions in the (Scramble Division), shooting an 18 hole score of 68. Murdock and Dye (Best Ball) 90.
Carrollton Tri Meet: Lexington was second behind Carrollton. Potter shot a 48, Murdock 56, Taylor 61, Dye 61, Ward 62 Richmond 4 Team: Lexington was second behind Richmond. Potter fired a 50, Dye 56, Taylor 59, Murdock 61, Ward 68.
Lawson Tri Meet: Lexington was third behind Lawson and Mid Buchanan. Potter shot a 41, Murdock 48, Miller 48, Dye 59, Taylor 61.
Dual Match vs St Paul: Lexington won the match 214 to 244. Miller fired a 47, Potter 49, Murdock 55, Dye 63, Taylor 67.
MRVC Conference Tournament: Western Division (Larger Schools) and Eastern Division (Smaller Schools) played together in one big Tournament. Lexington placed ninth as a team, out of 13 schools. However, the Minutemen placed third in their 6 team Eastern Division behind Richmond and Carrollton, and ahead of Knob Noster, Holden and Higginsville. It should be noted that Richmond and Carrollton, two schools from the smaller division, placed first and second among all Conference schools. For Lexington, Miller shot a 93, which placed him 19th overall, while Potter carded a 98 which placed him 30th. Other Lexington scores were Murdock 114, Dye 121, Taylor 122.
Class 2 District Tournament: Lexington placed 14th overall as a team. Potter shot a 94 which placed him 35th overall, while Miller fired a 98 which placed him 44th. Dye had a 116, with Taylor shooting a 119.
