Minutemen football schedule to look different this year
The Lexington High School Football schedule will look a lot different this year, as the Minutemen will face four different non conference opponents, than they have in each of the past two seasons.
This year, Lexington will play Lone Jack, Plattsburg, Versailles and Crest Ridge to open the season, instead of facing Lathrop, Mid Buchanan, South Callaway and Anderson County, from Garnett Kansas.
On the surface, this year’s non conference schedule would not appear to be as tough as last year’s, as the four teams that Lexington will play, won only 5 games between them last year, while the teams from last year’s first four games, won a total of 24 games. However, bear in mind that each year is different, and the non conference teams that Lexington will play this season, have all had a great deal of success in Football, in many past years.
In their final five regular season games, the Minutemen will face their tough MRVC East Conference opponents. Last year, Holden, Knob Noster and Richmond all tied for the Conference Championship, with 4-1 league records, while Lexington finished 1-4 in Conference, and 2-9 overall. Even though the Minutemen record was not what they had hoped for, their 44-42 Homecoming win over Carrollton, after trailing 42-14 at halftime, was probably one of the biggest and most exciting come back wins in school history.
Chris Brooks will again be the Head Coach for the Minutemen, and he will not be alone, as Carrollton, Holden and Knob Noster will also have a new Head Football Coach this year.
Following is the 2026 Lexington Minutemen Football schedule: August 28 Lone Jack Home September 4 Plattsburg Home September 11 Versailles Away September 18 Crest Ridge Away September 25 Holden Home October 2 Knob Noster Away October 9 Carrollton Away October 16 Higginsville Home October 23 Richmond Home October 30 District Playoff Game TBA
