Leroy Golden Barnes, 84, of Lexington, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2026, at Meyer Care Center in Higginsville.

Leroy was born on Oct. 5, 1941, to James Franklin and Lula (Pointer) Barnes, Jr. In 1959, he graduated from Mayview High School.

Leroy dedicated 42 years of his life to working as a truck driver for Green Quarries.

Leroy is survived by his life partner of 37 years, Janice Lynn of Lexington; one son, Michael (Lori) Barnes of Waverly; one grandchild, Michael Strickler; and much extended family.

Leroy was preceded in death by both parents; one son, Marc Barnes; six sisters: Dotta, Mary Thelma, Jimetta, Catherine, Lillian, and Sylvia; and one brother, James Jr.

A visitation took place on Monday, April 20, 2026, at Lexington United Methodist Church in Lexington. Funeral services took place Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at the church. Interment followed at Memorial Park Cemetery.
