Roger Warren Erdman

Roger Warren Erdman, age 94, peacefully passed into new life on Friday, Aug. 14, at Meyer Care Center in Higginsville.

Roger was born on Aug. 8, 1932, on the Erdman family farm north of Alma, the son of Bessie and Gilbert Erdman.

Roger graduated from Alma High School in 1950 then went to work for an Allis-Chalmers farm implement dealer in Higginsville. During this time, he met Mathilda ‘Tillie’ Stumpenhaus of Corder.

In 1952, Roger joined the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict and was stationed in Japan. He served two years, then went back to work at the implement dealership. In 1956, he and a partner purchased and operated it as Busch and Erdman Implement Company. In 1965 Roger bought out Busch and renamed the business Erdman Implement Company.

In February 1955, Roger married Tillie at the St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Blackburn.

Roger is survived by his wife of 71 years, Tillie; son, Warren (Jenny), daughter Brenda Dion (Matt); four grandchildren; and other extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Howard and Donald Erdman of Alma.

Visitation will occur from 12-1 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 24, 2026, at Salem UCC in Higginsville. Funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at the church and burial will be at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Salem UCC in Higginsville or the Lafayette County Cancer Coalition.
