October 24, 1944 – August 29, 2026
Sharon Kay Bobzin, of Concordia, MO, went home to her Savior on Saturday, August 29, 2026. She was born on October 24, 1944, in Higginsville, MO, to Ernst and Anna Schafer of Corder. She was baptized on November 12, 1944, by Pastor Gose and confirmed on March 30, 1958, at Zion Lutheran Church in Corder, MO. She attended Zion Lutheran School in Corder, MO, through eighth grade where her father served as teacher, principal, organist and choir director for over 40 years.
She attended Concordia High School in Seward, NE, in 1958 with the intention of being a Lutheran school teacher.
It was here that she met her future husband, John C.
Bobzin of Chicago, IL. Sharon and John both attended Concordia Teachers College at Seward to prepare for their Lutheran teaching careers. They were married on June 26, 1965, at Zion Lutheran Church in Corder, MO. Sharon taught for years and when they began their family, she was able to stay home and raise their children. Sharon was active at the many Lutheran congregations where John served as a teacher and principal including Zion Lutheran Church in Lyons, IL, St. Mark’s Lutheran in Yonkers, NY, St. Paul’s Lutheran in Pomona, CA, Grace Lutheran in Modesto, CA, Lutheran High Laverne, CA, and finally at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Concordia, which they have called home since 1990.
Sharon later became a district manager for Avon. This career gave her the flexibility to work from home while being devoted to raising her family. She was honored with numerous awards throughout her career, including opportunities to travel and see the world with her husband, John.
She lived her life with a child-like faith and unwavering trust in God, serving as a beautiful living testament to her family and all who knew her. She was known for her warmth, unconditional love, wisdom and honesty– always willing to tell you the truth, whether you were ready to hear it or not. Her quick wit and wonderful sense of humor brought laughter and joy to everyone around her. She was a deeply loving mother, devoted grandmother and great grandmother. She could often be found proudly supporting her grandchildren at their many events and celebrating their accomplishments.
