Lewis and Clark: Heading upstream into history, Part 1

A display featuring Meriwether Lewis’ dog, Seaman, at the Missouri River Basin Lewis & Clark Center. Along the journey, Seaman retrieved a variety game brought down by the hunters. He also barked to warn away buffalo bull and grizzlies. Newfoundland dogs are strong swimmers and are capable of pulling a drowning person from the water.
