Lexington golfers compete in conference, district

The Lexington High School Golf Team ventured across the river, a week ago Monday, and competed in the MRVC Conference Golf Tournament, that was played at Shirkey Golf Course in Richmond.

As many of you know, the MRVC Conference is divided into two Divisions, with 7 teams in the West Division and 6 in the East, which is the division that Lexington competes in. However, in the Conference Golf Tournament, all 13 teams are grouped together, and play in one big tournament.

For Lexington, Luke Miller shot an 18 hole score of 93, which ranked him 19th among all of the golfers in the tournament, while Wyatt Potter fired a 98, which ranked him 30th. Caden Murdock had a score of 114, while Austin Dye had a score of 121, with Jace Taylor carding a 122.

Richmond was the Conference Champion, as they had a 4 man total score of 326, while Carrollton was four strokes back in second place at 330. with Harrisonville third at 359. Oak Grove was fourth (366), followed by Warrensburg (368), Odessa (370), Clinton (382 ), Pleasant Hill (397), Lexington (426) and KC Center to round out the top 10, followed by Knob Noster, Higginsville and Holden.

The Minutemen were ninth overall, but they finished third, among the 6 MRVC East Schools.

The Class 2 District Golf Tournament was played this past Thursday, at the Hidden Valley Course in Lawson. For the Minutemen, Wyatt Potter carded an 18 hole score of 94, with Luke Miller shooting a 98, for the two lowest scores.
