Minutemen get nice win in final home game on Senior Day

Five Lexington Senior Baseball players, ended their home career in style, as they got a nice 3 to 0 win over Crest Ridge, in front of a large enthusiastic crowd on Senior Day, a week ago Tuesday at Lexington Community Park Hunter Meyer who pitched this game for Lexington, definitely made the most of the final home game of his high school career, as he gave up a single to the Crest Ridge leadoff hitter, but that was the only hit of the contest for the visitors, as Meyer hurled a complete game one hit shut out.
The game was scoreless until the bottom of the third inning, which was when the Minutemen got on the board. With two outs, Alex Kraft singled, stole second, and came home on a single by Meyer, to put Lexington up 1-0.
That was where things stood until the bottom of the sixth inning. Kraft led off the inning with a double, and then stole third. Meyer walked and stole second, and Emerson drove in a run with a sac fly. Perez then drove in another run with a single, and Lexington had expanded their lead to 3-0 In the top of the seventh with two outs, Andy Owens of Crest Ridge hit the hardest shot of the game, lining a bullet up the middle, which Meyer caught, even though he only saw it for a split second, if at all, and the Minutemen had a 3 to 0 win to close out their home season.
As stated earlier, Meyer tossed a complete game one hit shut out, and he struck out 13, without a walk. He also retired 14 out of the last 15 hitters that he faced, which included striking out 8 of the final 12.
The Minutemen also made some good defensive plays in this contest, as in addition to Meyer snatching the line drive to end the game, Jesse Dunkle caught two deep fly balls that were right up against the left field fence.
Kraft had 2 hits, including a double, and scored twice to pace Lexington, while Meyer and Perez each recorded one hit, with Meyer also scoring a run. Johnnie Groves was walked twice in the game, while Dunkle and Meyer each drew one free pass. Emerson, Meyer and Perez each drove in one run.
