HCC is proud to announce that we have officially received our Recovery Friendly Workplace Designation through Missouri’s Recovery Friendly Workplace initiative. This designation reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting individuals in recovery and creating opportunities for second chances within our workforce and community.

As HCC continues expanding services for community members in recovery, we are equally committed to fostering a supportive environment for current and future employees navigating recovery journeys. Through services such as Peer Support, Re-Entry Job Assistance, and access to healthcare resources, HCC aims to help reduce barriers to employment and combat the stigma often associated with addiction and justice involvement.

Addiction impacts communities across Missouri every day, with substance use disorders costing the state an estimated $23 million daily. By investing in recovery-focused support systems and employment opportunities, organizations can play a meaningful role in reducing overdose deaths and strengthening community health outcomes.

Missouri is one of 24 states participating in the Recovery Friendly Workplace initiative, with more than 50 organizations statewide formally designated for their commitment to recoveryfriendly practices and reducing stigma surrounding the hiring of previously justice-involved individuals. “A workplace can be so much more than a job, it can provide stability, purpose, community and confidence. Sometimes all it takes is one employer willing to give someone a chance, one supportive conversation or one moment of understanding to completely change the trajectory of a person’s life.”

She added, “Too often, people struggling with substance use disorder carry shame and stigma that prevent them from asking for help or moving forward after treatment or recovery. When organizations like HCC Network openly support recovery, it sends a powerful message that people are not defined by their past and that healing and growth are possible.
