Absentee voting now open for Aug. 4 primary
Absentee voting for the August 4, 2026 Primary Election began Tuesday, June 23, 2026, and continues through Monday, Aug. 3, 2026. Voters must provide an excuse for absentee voting through July 20, 2026. Beginning July 21, 2026, voters may vote absentee without providing an excuse.
The Lafayette County Clerk’s Office is open for absentee voting: Monday–Friday 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Closed daily for lunch from 12 p.m. – 1 p.m.
As this is a Primary Election, voters will need to select a ballot type before voting:
• Republican
• Democratic
• Libertarian
• Non-Partisan
In addition to primary candidates at the state and local levels, Lafayette County voters will also be voting on 4 proposed Missouri Constitutional Amendments and 9 local questions from the Odessa R-7 School District, Lexington R-5 School District, Odessa Fire & Rescue Protection District, Higginsville Fire Protection District, City of Alma, City of Blackburn, City of Waverly, and the Carroll County Ambulance District.
The last day to register to vote in the August Primary Election is July 8, 2026.
The last day to request an absentee ballot by mail or email for the August 4th, 2026 Primary Election is Wednesday, July 22, 2026.
