Lady Husker Tennis Nets Several Victories
The Tennis Team continues to see a lot of action here are results last week from the Warrensburg Doubles Tournament: #1 Doubles - Ada Stoner & Danika Richardson - 5th place, #2 Doubles - Alle Cunningham & Erma Strait - 7th place, 1st round #3 Doubles - Katelyn Davis & Nevaeh Lile - 8th place, #4 Doubles - Abbi Sellars & Karli Salyer - 8th place.
Husker Football LUhìps Mules on Homecoming
The Lone Jack Mules were brought in to play a Homecoming match on 9-18-26. With no shortage of activities going on due to it being Country Fair weekend as well, citizens could take their pick of events to attend. The weather was hot and the Husker’s start may have been even hotter as the Blue and Gold roared to a big halftime lead, on pace to picking up their first win of the year.
Lady Huskers Steam Roll State Champs, Win Three in a Row
The Lady Huskers had a fun stretch of games recently including pasting defending state champs Holden 10-0 at home on 9-15. The game was scoreless until the 3rd inning when the Blue and Gold scratched a pair of tallies home, then got four more runs in the 4th, and 5th innings for the spread. Kendall Heck hit a triple and Paige Miller added a double in this one.
Fentanyl Trafficker Gets Nineteen Years
On Tuesday, September 8, 2026, Dominique Benston, 35, of Independence, Missouri, appeared in the Lafayette County Circuit Court for a sentencing hearing following a guilty plea to the class A felony of Trafficking Drugs in the First Degree. At the conclusion of the hearing, argued by Lafayette County Prosecutor, Kristen Ellis Hilbrenner, the defendant was sentenced to nineteen years in the Missouri Department of Corrections.

LCRSP hears presentation on Douglass School Project
Lafayette County Retired School Personnel (LCRSP) met on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2026, at the FCS Office in Higginsville. Social and snack time was at 2 p.m. and the general meeting began at 2:30 p.m. The event was well attended with several new and returning MRTA members.
Lexington woman sentenced to life in prison after guilty verdict
Lafayette County Prosecuting Attorney Kristen Hillbrener has announced that Amber Smoot, 29, of Lexington, was found guilty by a Lafayette County jury of Statutory Sodomy in the First Degree on July 8, 2026. On Sept. 8, 2026, the defendant was sentenced to life in the Department of Corrections.
