Lexington girls are champs at Bill Hamann Meet
The Lexington Girls Track Team took first place as a team in the Bill Hamann Track Meet that was held last Thursday at Lexington High School. Zoey Earnest, Ellie Lichte and Amanda Rodekohr, were all individual champions, while the Relay Team of Tessa Lovell, Phoebe Engelbrecht, Addison Smith and Lichte, also took first place.

LMS girls fourth, boys seventh at Sweet Springs
The Lexington Middle School Girls Track Team placed fourth, while the Boys were seventh as a team in the Sweet Springs Middle School Invitational, held last Monday on the Sweet Springs High School Track.
Coach Mathews resigns as Lexington football coach
Joel Mathews, who was the Head Football Coach for the Lexington Minutemen this past season, announced recently that he will be leaving the District at the end of this current school year, to assume a position in the Blue Springs School District.
Minutemen linksters place third in Richmond Quad
The Lexington Minutemen Boys Golf Team traveled across the river, and placed third in the Richmond Quad Tournament that was played a week ago Tuesday at Shirkey Golf Course in Richmond.

Lexington school records broken at Higginsville
Three Lexington High School Track records were broken a week ago Tuesday in the Hoefer-Husker Track Meet in Higginsville, as the Girls 4x800 Relay Team of Tessa Lovell, Phoebe Engelbrecht, Addison Smith, and Ellie Lichte set a new school record of 9:53, while Lichte also set a new mark of 11:05 in the 3200 Meter Run, with Conner Soendker setting a new school record in the 800 Meter Run with a time of 1:57.

Boys Track is going the distance for a good season
We are excited about our boys team this year. We have some very talented boys returning and being backed up by some freshmen coming in. The distance crew anchored by Soendker and Lichte have a great chance of bringing home some State hardware. The sprinters lead by sophomores Neece and Cole have a good chance of being State qualifiers as well. I am very excited to see so many talented freshmen join the team to watch their progression throughout the year.

Golf team swings into action for exciting season
As the spring golf season approaches, there is a lot of excitement surrounding our program. We are still a young team with 8 of our 11 players being underclassmen, but this group has shown a lot of growth and potential heading into the season. Our youth is something we are embracing. The players have put in time during the offseason to improve, and it is starting to show. We are seeing more confidence, better decision making on the course, and a stronger understanding of how to compete.

What young athletes can do to reduce injury risk
Exercise is great for the body. Scholastic and recreational sports is one of the primary ways children and adolescents get the exercise they need. Even though sports participation is relatively safe, there's no guarantee athletes won't suffer an injury. However, there are ways for student athletes to reduce their risk of getting hurt while playing the games they love.

Minutemen baseball team splits home games
The Lexington Minutemen played very well and led for 6 innings, but the Van Horn Falcons exploded for 6 runs in the top of the seventh to claim a 9 to 7 comeback win a week ago Monday at Lexington Community Park.
Lexington girls take first in Holden meet
The Lexington High School Girls Track Team got some good performances on a cold day, and earned first place honors in the Team Standings, at the Holden Invitational last Friday at Holden High School.
