Volleyball camp for middle and high school girls next week
The Lexington High School and Middle School Volleyball coaching staff invites any Girls, in grades 5-12, who might be interested in playing Volleyball this coming year, to a skills and drills camp which will be held at the Lexington High School Gym this coming Monday (July 27th) through the following Thursday (July 30th).
Spain wins World Cup soccer championship
The man they call “Super Sub,” Ferran Torres scored the only goal of the game in extra time, as Spain defeated Argentina 1 to 0 to claim the World Cup Title last Sunday in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
U.S. team comes up short in World Cup tournament
It was a mixed bag for the United States Men’s Soccer Team, as they had some shining moments, where they were very sharp, but had other times when they did not play well, which prevented them from advancing as far as they had hoped for in the World Cup Soccer Tournament, as they were eliminated in the Round of 16.
American League pitchers dominate Baseball All Star Game
Eleven different American League pitchers, combined to toss a 3 hit shutout out, as the American League All Stars defeated the National Leaguers 4 to 0, in the 96th Major League All Star Baseball game, that was played a week ago Tuesday, at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.
Palmer received Medal of Honor for actions in Battle of Lexington
George Henry Palmer was a bugler in the 1st Illinois Volunteer Cavalry during the Civil War, receiving the nation’s highest military award, the Medal of Honor, for his action while fighting for the north in the Battle of Lexington in September 1861.

People who live in rural communities live an average of three years fewer than urban counterparts and have a 40% higher likelihood of developing heart disease and face a 30% increased risk for stroke mortality, according to an American Heart Association’s presidential advisory on rural health.
