Council discusses future of non-emergency transfers
News Editor City of Lexington officials are seeking a legal opinion on whether Lafayette Regional Health Center owes the city compensation for nonemergency transfers of patients from LRHC to other medical facilities in the region.
A Night in Paris – LHS Prom 2026
Lexington High School's prom last weekend brought Paris to lite with its theme, 'A Night in Paris.” Students dressed up and spent the night dancing, taking pictures, and hanging out with friends. One of the most anticipated moments of the night was the crowning of prom royalty, with Blake Kaullen named prom king and Hunter Adkins crowned prom queen. Students want to thank Christa Simpson and the prom committee for their dedication and hard work in creating such a memorable and beautifully executed event. Their efforts made the evening truly special for everyone in attendance.
King is Lexington’s first female Fire Chief
Former Lexington EMS Director Erika King recently took over as Fire Chief in Lexington, becoming the first female Fire Chief in the city’s history.
AARP Chapter to meet May 12
Wellington AARP Chapter #997 will meet on Tuesday, May 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the Community Christian Center, 710 W. Highway 224 in Wellington.
Shoes collected
The Lexington Rotary Club collected a total of 450 pairs of shoes, 31 pairs of socks, and $740 in donations during its annual Shoes For Orphan Souls shoe drive. Pictured with the shoes are Olivia Lundin, Marcus Lundin, local shoe drive chairman Dave Rich, Rachelle Banhart, Earl Parris, Jim Martin, Steve Fuller, Aubrey Burk and Nila Burk. Rotary District 6040 collected a total of 29,417 pairs of shoes.

Minutemen drop conference tilt to Holden
The Holden Eagles scored 9 runs in the final three innings, and broke open a close game to beat the Lexington Minutemen Baseball Team 12 to 2 a week ago Tuesday at Lexington Community Park.
Middle School track teams compete in MRVC Conference meet
The Lexington Middle School Girls and Boys Track Teams traveled to Carrollton this past Friday and competed in the MRVC East Middle School Conference Track Meet.
