Former school employee accused of sexual relations with student
The Lafayette County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office announces that criminal charges have been filed in connection with an investigation involving a former Lexington school district employee and an 18-year-old student.

Tigers pull away from Minutemen in late innings
In a game that was closer than the final score would indicate, the Wellington-Napoleon Tigers Boys Baseball Team pulled away in the final two innings, and defeated the Lexington Minutemen 17 to 5 last Wednesday in Lexington.

Meet the Candidates Forum
On Saturday, March 21 at 11 a.m., VFW Post 4052 hosted a Meet the Candidates Forum. This event included candidates for Mayor and the City Counsel. Both Mayoral contenders, John Harden and Tom Hughes attended as well as Randall Hansen, John Stratton, Mike Kramer, Ethan Schneider, and Thomas Rowland, who are vying for positions on the City Council.
Lafayette County Dems to meet April 14
The Lafayette County Democratic Central Committee and Club will convene on April 14 at 5:30 PM. The meeting will be held at the Fairground Park Administration Building, situated at 801 West 29th Street, Higginsville.

Lafayette County Retired School Personnel will meet on Thursday, April 9 at 2:30 P.M., at the FCS Financial Office building, 4100 MO-13 BUS Hwy, Higginsville.
City applies for grant for water upgrades
The city of Lexington has applied for a $965,000 federal grant for proposed water system upgrades including the replacement of dozens of fire hydrants along with installation of several new water lines.
County Commissioners discuss use tax ballot issue
A question regarding reallocation of the county’s use tax that will appear on the April 7 ballot was a topic of discussion at last week’s Lexington City Council meeting, a public hearing last Wednesday at the county courthouse, and a meeting of county mayors and County Commissioners last Thursday night at City Hall.
