Hunter’s Education skills session to be held in Marshall
The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) invites the public to finish their huntereducation certification in Central Missouri this September. This training session is the final step to becoming hunter-education certified, and the class is designed for participants ages 11 and older. MDC staff will be hosting several events throughout the month, including a local one on Saturday, Sept. 19, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Dysart Memorial Shooting Complex in Marshall. Lady Chiefs Sweep Carrollton, Northwest
As mentioned last week Santa Fe swept sets at Carrollton, 25-16, 25-15, 25-16; The Lady Chiefs JV also won 26-24, 2512. In the varsity match, leaders in stat categories were Elise Michael with 7 kills, while Sue Vandiver, and Ava Plattner were next with 6. Tynlee Koch, and Adalynn Boland led with 12 assists for Koch, and 10 for Boland, Koch led with 6 aces, Tatum Fitzwater was next with 5, and digs were led by Vandiver with 11, and next were Victoria Morton, Plattner, and Audrey Finkeldei all with 7.
Chiefs defeat Northland Christian
The Chiefs opened the football season with a win, and doubled down on that Friday night in Alma by taking another W against Northland Christian of Kansas City. The Chiefs defeated the Trailblazers last year 30-22, and this year the count was 5228 in favor of Santa Fe, to start the season right. On offense Logan Wilsie went for four touchdowns, with 206 yards rushing on 26 carries, and 60 yards of passing. Brayden Livingston rushed 7 times for 38 yards and a TD, while Michael Barrett rushed 17 times for 71 yards. Noah Reep caught a pair of passes as did Kaden Boland. Ryker Moenkhoff led in tackles with 7 combo tackles, Wilsie was next with 6, Livingston had 5, and Korben Case 4 tackles, among the leaders. Wyatt Rardon added a sack.
MSHP reports two area accidents, one fatal for a pedestrian
On Sunday, Sept. 6, a one-vehicle accident involving a pedestrian in Saline County was fatal for a Columbia man.

Waverly community member is victim in double homicide
