Lafayette County Retired School Personnel hosts Candidates Forum
Lafayette County Retired School Personnel met on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2026, at the FCS office in Higginsville. Social time and snacks were enjoyed by over 20 attendees, then President John Morgan called the meeting to order at 2:30 p.m. Business was quickly conducted and followed by an overview of the proposal and amendments on Missouri’s Nov. 3 ballot. The meeting then moved to the Candidates Forum, followed by Q&A time.
Lafayette County Health Department continues WIC contract
The Lafayette County Health Department has renewed the contract with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services to continue providing WIC services for the federal fiscal year 2026-2027.
Lady Chiefs defeat St. Paul, Marshall, take 5th in I-70 tournament
Prior to the Conference tournament, Santa Fe went on the road on Tuesday, Oct. 6, and defeated the St. Paul Saints in five sets (22-25, 19-25, 25-17, 25-15, and 15-8).
Santa Fe Chiefs downed by Well-Nap
The Santa Fe Chiefs football team took on Wellington-Napoleon last Friday night in Alma and fell 30-22. The contest started off with a turnover on downs, giving the ball to the Tigers, who would score on a 65-yard touchdown pass play to go up 8-0 after the two point conversion. Santa Fe would be forced to punt next, and the Tigers capitalized again before the 1st quarter was over, going up 16-0 on a 3-yard TD run.

On Oct. 9, Governor Mike Kehoe signed Executive Order 2620, expanding his Executive Order 26-19 issued the week before, allowing the highway use of dyed diesel fuel for all motor vehicles operating for any purpose.
