Retired educators to meet next week
Lafayette County Retired School Personnel (LCRSP) will meet Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 2:30 p.m., at the FCS Financial office (4100 MO-13 Hwy, Higginsville). Dr. Brad Briscoe, Superintendent of the Wellington-Napoleon School District, will be the guest speaker. There will also be a general meeting with updates on legislation of concern, reports on MRTA’s Legislative Day, and the MRTA Leadership Summit. All retired educators and support staff, active teachers and support staff, their spouses, and the general public are invited to attend.

Santa Fe girls eliminated in Districts
It was time for district competition last week, and the Santa Fe Lady Chiefs traveled south down Highway 23 to take on the extremely familiar host school Concordia, in Class 2 District 14 play last Wednesday night. Santa Fe had won three straight over the Lady Orioles, but everyone knew this would be a tough ball game.

MDC hunting booklets now available
The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) has new booklets for hunters, trappers, anglers, and others on spring turkey hunting, hunting and trapping, and fishing. The free booklets are available at MDC regional offices, MDC nature centers, and other places where permits are sold. The handy booklets have information on related permits, seasons, species, regulations, limits, conservation areas, sunrise and sunset tables, and more.

McGarry inducted into CARB HoF
Forty-six years ago, Tom McGarry was a high school student just starting out his sprint racing career. It was a hobby that would continue throughout his lifetime; for about a dozen years he would race as a driver and for another 30+ years he would use his mechanical talents to help guide the team to victory.
Fitzgibbon Hospital to hold annual health fair
The annual Health Fair at Fitzgibbon Hospital will be held from 7 to 10 a.m., Friday, April 24, in the hospital’s atrium. This event provides easy access to numerous health screenings to help people “know their numbers” and is part of the hospital’s mission of “Improving the Health of our Community.”
