MDC needs experienced birders to help with breeding bird survey
Calling Missouri birders who know their birds by sight and sound! The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) needs volunteers to assist with five vacant bird-observation routes in Missouri as part of the 2026 North American Breeding Bird Survey (BBS) May 27 – July 7. Volunteers will need to conduct their surveys one day during the survey period.

On Friday, May 1, students at Trinity Lutheran School performed their annual spring program, this year titled “Pirates of the I Don’t Care-ibbean.”

Free events planned at area state parks, historic sites
Missouri state parks and historic sites are hosting a wide variety of educational and recreational activities this month. Upcoming area events include:
Eastgate Tent Revival in Waverly
During the month of May, the Waverly Assembly of God is hosting the Eastgate Tent Revival. The tent is located directly behind the church. All events will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. and all are welcome to attend.

Trinity preschool students take spring field trip
On Monday, May 4, Trinity’s preschool students took their spring field trip to Blind Pony Hatchery in Sweet Springs.
Hazel Hill Club holds April meeting
The Hazel Hill Community Club met on April 9 at Thomas Hall at 1 p.m. Lois Graf and Mary Salyer were the hostesses. Others attending the meeting were: Mary Ellen Kitchen, Diane Schmidt and Lolly Schmidt.
