Spring brings new growth in greenery all around us. Unfortunately, not all greenery is good for Missouri. Non-native plants don’t belong here and they’re causing serious damage to local habitats from backyards to fields and forests.

SF FFA members attend State Convention
The 98th Missouri FFA Convention was held Wednesday, April 15, to Friday, April 17, at Mizzou Arena in Columbia. Twenty-four Santa Fe FFA members and their Advisor Martha Schreiman attended the event.
Next Lafayette County Cancer Coalition meeting is May 7
The next General Membership meeting of the Lafayette County Cancer Coalition will be Thursday, May 7, 2026 beginning at 7 p.m. at Salem United Church of Christ in Higginsville.

Application period for LRHC Auxiliary scholarship open until June 1
The Lafayette Regional Health Center Auxiliary is offering $1,000 scholarships to worthy students. Applicants must have completed at least one year of post secondary education and must be within one year of completion of the post-secondary human health-related program for which they are enrolled. Applicants must be a United States citizen and preference will be given to Lafayette County, Mo., residents.

If your farm has been in your family since Dec. 31, 1926, it’s not too late to apply for recognition as a Missouri Century Farm.

SF Alumni Foundation holds annual Crappie Tournament
The 7th annual Santa Fe Alumni Foundation Crappie Tournament was a held this past on Saturday, April 18. This year, 14 adult teams and nine youth teams registered for the event.
