Lafayette County Cares Coalition Hosts 2nd Annual Stomp the Stigma 5K Connect

The Lafayette County Cares Coalition proudly hosted the 2nd Annual Stomp the Stigma 5K Connect on Saturday, May 30th, bringing together community members, local organizations, advocates, and supporters in a united effort to raise awareness about mental health and substance use conditions and suicide prevention, while promoting hope, connection, and wellness.
The event welcomed participants of all ages who walked and ran (in the rain) alongside friends, family members, community leaders, and individuals with lived experience. More than just a race, Stomp the Stigma served as an opportunity for residents to connect with local resources, learn about available support services, and engage in meaningful conversations aimed at breaking down the stigma that often surrounds mental health challenges and substance use disorders.
The connect portion of the event featured community organizations, service providers, and local partners who shared information about programs and resources available throughout Lafayette County and surrounding areas. Attendees had the opportunity to learn about prevention, treatment, recovery support, crisis services, and other community-based initiatives designed to improve health and well-being.
“Stigma remains one of the greatest barriers preventing people from seeking help,” said Molly Adams, Substance
