Margaret Gray Center Focuses On Seniors’ Health

Staying healthy is always on the agenda at The Margaret Gray Center, Lexington’s senior center. Motion is lotion and helps everyone stay limber—and that includes physical bodies, vibrant personalities, and the all-important “gray matter,” our brains. The Margaret Gray Center, a Care Connection affiliate, offers activities to nurture all three, and all area seniors are welcomed.

With an indoor walking track and exercise equipment adjoining it in the 4-Life building in Lexington, the center itself offers myriad opportunities beyond the daily meal service from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. where a full meal is served for a donation of $7 for those aged 60 or more, with carry-out for only $11. Additional activities available to congregants daily are a pool table, jigsaw puzzles, board games, a library with cozy reading area, and other center congregants to meet, converse with, and enjoy.

A Silver Sneakers seated exercise class meets every Friday morning, and a variety of other health-benefitting activities are offered on a rotating basis. Check out the monthly events/ activities calendar on the back of the monthly menus to learn more. Beyond that, programs are offered regularly on topics important to area seniors, such as blood pressure checks, dealing with stress, eye health, avoiding Alzheimer’s, avoiding scams, and the like. To support awareness, strategic thinking and just plain fun, there is monthly bingo, a Scrabble day, trivia contests, free painting class, and card groups playing Pitch, Pinochle, and Bridge.

Stop by The Margaret Gray Center at 811 S. Business Hwy 13 in Lexington to discover a haven to relax, dine, live, and stay healthy among your peers, where you will always be greeted with a smile.
