Playground dedication June 13

News Editor The dedication ceremony for the new playground facilities at College Park in Lexington is set for Saturday, June 13 at 10 a.m., Mayor Tom Hughes announced at last week’s City Council meeting.
“The new playground is truly a firstclass facility,” said Hughes. “There will be some free pool passes for kids that come out to the dedication and possibly some other giveaways as well.”
The playground upgrades include a new set of swings, new benches, and a new rubber safe-play surface with a new sidewalk surrounding it.
The existing climbing set has also been reconditioned to improve its safety.
The improvements have been made in honor of Alistair Lamb, a 5-year-old boy who died in the April 2025 gas line explosion. The park has a strong Spider- Man theme, as Spider-Man was Alistair’s favorite super hero.
The improvements were completed by Recreation Installations, LLC and sponsored by Lexington Parks and Recreation and private donors.
