For the first time since 1989, both the Lexington Girls and Boys Track Teams won Team Championships at the Class 2 District Track Meet that was held last Saturday in Carrollton.

The Lexington distance runners were dominant in individual events, as Ellie Lichte had 3 first place finishes, Conner Soendker had 2 firsts and a second, and Chael Lichte had a first and 2 seconds.

Addison Smith had a second and 2 thirds, while Phoebe Engelbrecht had a second a third and a fourth place finish. Those 5 runners, along with Tessa Lovell, Brody Neece, and Cash Cole, all also ran on one first place distance relay team.

In other individual events, Kai Sheperd had a first and a second place finish, while Amanda Rodekohr earned a second, Zoey Earnest had a third and a fourth place finish, while Lainie Schumacher, Justice McComas, and Ayden Harned each had a third, with Cash Cole earning a fourth place finish. The Girls Relay team of Sheperd, Earnest, Brooke Dye and Camryn Bennett also had a third place finish.

The 10 Girls and 6 Boys, that were mentioned above, who placed fourth or better, in at least one District event, will all advance to the Sectional meet this coming Saturday in Higginsville, with the top four finishers in each Sectional event, advancing to the State Meet on May 22 and 23 at Jeff City High School.
