Lexington golfers place third in MRVC East Tournament

The Lexington High School Boys Golf Team had a very respectable showing in the MRVC Conference Golf Tournament that was played on May 4, at Shirkey Golf Course in Richmond.

The MRVC Conference consists of 13 teams. The conference is divided into an East and a West Division, in terms of competition in the various sports, based on the student enrollment of each school. However, In the conference Golf tournament, all 13 teams played together in one big tournament.

The Minutemen finished in ninth place overall in the tournament. However, when you split the teams into the two divisions, Lexington placed a very respectable third out of the 6 teams in the East Division. Richmond was both the East Division and the overall Conference Champion, with a 4 man 18 hole team total of 326 strokes, while Carrollton placed second in both the East and the overall Conference, 4 stokes back with a 330 Lexington was third in the East, with a score of 426, followed by Knob Noster in fourth, Holden in fifth, and Higginsville in sixth place.

For Lexington, Luke Miller shot an 18 hole score of 93, which ranked him 19th among all of the golfers in the entire tournament, while Wyatt Potter shot a 98, which placed him 30th. Caden Murdock carded a 114, Austin Dye a 121 and Jace Taylor a 122.

The Class 2 District Tournament was played on May 7 at the Hidden Valley Golf Course in Lawson, and the Minutemen finished 14th as a team in the District.

In terms of individual scores, Wyatt Potter fired an 18 hole score of 94 to place 35th overall in the tournament, while Luke Miller carded a 98 and finished 44th. Austin Dye shot a 116.and Jace Taylor a 119, to round out the Lexington scoring.
