Kathy Elaine (Leathers) Lichtenthaler, 83, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at her home in Brunswick. Kathy was born on Nov. 16, 1942 in Boonville, the daughter of Delmar and Dolores (Prior) Leathers. She graduated from Boonville High School in 1960.

On Sept. 16, 1984, she married James Lichtenthaler in Waverly.

Kathy worked in maintenance for the housing authority in Carrollton, Davis Paints in Boonville, was a seamstress, and a homemaker in her later years.

Kathy is survived by her beloved husband of the home, James; three children: Sandra Redden of Brunswick, Eric Schmidt and his wife Janice of Phoenix, Ariz., and Stacy Lawrence and her husband Neal of Fort Scott, Kan.; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Linda Pratt and her husband Dennis.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Delmar and Dolores; one son, James Jr.; and one grandson, Paul Schmidt.

The family will hold a private celebration of life at a later date. Arrangements were under the direction of Breshears Memorial Chapels.
