Marshall Community Chorus members perform at Carnegie Hall

On April 23-27, 13 members of the Marshall Community Chorus traveled to New York City to perform at Carnegie Hall.
The choir was invited by choral composer Mark Hayes following a Composer Residency Project in which he spent a week in Marshall and collaborated with Director Ron Sayer to put together a concert.
The piece the choir performed at Carnegie Hall was titled “Psalmos” and was commissioned in memory of Peter Tiboris, the founder and late-artistic director of renowned music production company MidAmerica Productions. The piece, written by Hayes, included a full chorus, symphonic orchestra and vocal soloists, and was approximately 40 minutes long.
Outside of the performance, choir members did sight-seeing in their free time. Some visited the Empire State Building, Central Park, 9/11 Memorial, Macy’s or New York Public Library. They also rode the subway, attended a Broadway play or took a boat tour sponsored by MidAmerica Productions to see the New York Skyline and Statue of Liberty.
