Minutemen drop two non conference road contests

Lexington at Clinton

The Lexington Minutemen Baseball Team had their chances, as they hit pretty well and advanced 4 runners to third base, but they could not push any runs across, and they were shut out 10-0 by Clinton in a road game, a week ago Monday.

After a scoreless first inning, Clinton scored 3 runs in both the second and third innings to build a 6-0 lead. The Cards then put the game away with 3 more tallies in the sixth inning, while holding Lexington scoreless.

Trey Perez had two hits to pace the Lexington offense, while Kale Sander cracked a double, with Braxton Emerson, Abel Morris, Hunter Meyer, and Tristyn Hurshman each collecting a single in the contest.

Sander pitched the first three innings for the Minutemen, while Hurshman threw the final two. Kingston Day had three hits for Clinton, while Ryan Lowe had two.

Lexington at Cameron

The Minutemen Baseball Team led through four innings, but the Cameron Dragons pushed a run across in the bottom of the seventh to earn a 5-4 walk-off win last Wednesday in Cameron.

Lexington jumped on top in the first inning as Braxton Emerson, who reached on an error, scored on a single by Hunter Meyer, and then Emerson doubled in the third, and scored on an error to give the Minutemen a 2-1 lead.

After Cameron tied it up, Lexington regained the lead in the fourth, as Ayden Harned walked, Kale Sander singled, and Lexington scored a run scored after a Cameron outfielder misplayed a drive off the bat of Alex Kraft, and it was 3-2 Minutemen. After the Dragons took a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the sixth, on a controversial balk call, Lexington fought back to tie it in the top of the seventh, as Emerson singled, and scored on a Johnny Groves single, and it was 44.

However, Cameron then scored in the bottom of the seventh and came away with the 5 to 4 win. Emerson had two hits for the Minutemen, while Meyer, Groves, Harned and Sander each had a hit.

Harned was the starting pitcher, with Meyer relieving for Lexington.
