Missouri Tigers to open season at home Sept. 3
The Missouri Tigers Football team will open the 2026 season on Thursday night, September 3 against Arkansas-Pine Bluff, at 7:00 pm at Faurot Field in Columbia. In week 2, Mizzou will travel to Lawrence for a Border War Showdown game against the Kansas Jayhawks, under the Friday Night lights.
Area athletes place in Show Me Games Track and Field meet
Numerous area athletes competed and placed in the Track and Field meet that was held the weekend of Saturday, July 25 and Sunday, July 26 at Battle High School in Columbia, as part of the 42nd annual Missouri State Show Me Games.

The Kansas City Chiefs will open the 2026 regular season, with a prime time night game at Arrowhead Stadium, against the defending AFC Champion Denver Broncos, on Monday, September 14. They are also slated to play 5 more prime time night games, during the course of the upcoming season, as they will play the Indianapolis Colts, the defending Super Bowl Champion Seattle Seahawks, the Buffalo Bills, the Los Angeles Rams and the defending NFC Champion New England Patriots, in prime time night games during the regular season.

The Lexington High School and Middle School Volleyball coaching staff invites any Girls, in grades 5-12, who might be interested in playing Volleyball this coming year, to a skills and drills camp which will be held at the Lexington High School Gym this coming Monday (July 27th) through the following Thursday (July 30th).
Spain wins World Cup soccer championship
The man they call “Super Sub,” Ferran Torres scored the only goal of the game in extra time, as Spain defeated Argentina 1 to 0 to claim the World Cup Title last Sunday in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
U.S. team comes up short in World Cup tournament
It was a mixed bag for the United States Men’s Soccer Team, as they had some shining moments, where they were very sharp, but had other times when they did not play well, which prevented them from advancing as far as they had hoped for in the World Cup Soccer Tournament, as they were eliminated in the Round of 16.
