The City of Blackburn will hold a Community Cleanup Aug. 10 - 24. The city will provide resources, including a dumpster, to help residents dispose of trash. Items not accepted during the cleanup include: Tires, batteries, concrete, toxic waste, paint, chemicals, oil, uncontained glass and large household appliances. If you need assistance with moving broken or immobile vehicles, please consider the American Legion Vehicle Donation Program (844-453-4466), Vehicles for Vets (888-585-5353) or Kars4Kids (844-517-0500). Once trash bins have been removed at the conclusion of the cleanup, fine letters will be issued for properties not in compliance with city ordinances.

The Hazel Hill Community Club met at 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, at Thomas Hall in Waverly. Anna Mae Closterman and Mary Salyer were the hostesses. Others attend the meeting were Audrey Campbell, Lois Graf, Mary Ellen Kitchen, Pat Maycock, Shirley Maycock, Diane Schmidt and Lolly Schmidt.
