The recipients of the 2026 Darrick K. Homfeld Memorial Scholarship have been announced.

The recipients of this 28th presentation are Bryant Allery, Jesse Dunkle and Elizabeth Hager.

Bryant Allery is a 2026 graduate of Lafayette County C1 and Lex La-Ray Technical Center. He plans to attend State Technical College of Missouri in Linn, Missouri, to earn his Associate of Applied Science Degree (AAS) in the Utilities Technology program. Bryant is the son of Mark and Barbara Swartz of Higginsville.

Jesse Dunkle is a 2026 graduate of Lexington High School and Lex La-Ray Technical Center. He plans to attend State Technical College of Missouri in Linn, Missouri, pursuing certification in the Heavy Equipment Operations and Management program and earning his CDL license. Jesse is the son of Jesse and Gail Dunkle of Dover.

Elizabeth Hager is a 2026 graduate of Lexington High School and Lex La-Ray Technical Center. Elizabeth plans to attend University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri, continuing her path in the medical field by attaining a degree in health sciences. She is the daughter of Ashley and Kenner Hager of Lexington.

This scholarship was created in memory of Darrick, a lifelong Lexington resident, student, farmer and welder. He was a 1995 graduate of LHS and Lex La-Ray Technical Center, and a student at State Fair Community College. After his death in 1998, this scholarship was established in his name to financially assist area students continuing their education.
