Dr. Brad Briscoe Discusses Four Day School Week and Legislative Concerns

Lafayette County Retired School Personnel (LCRSP) met on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 2:30 P.M., at the FCS Office in Higginsville, MO. A general meeting was held with Dr. Brad Briscoe, Superintendent of the Wellington-Napoleon School District, as the guest speaker. Reports on Missouri Retired Teachers and Education Employees Association’s (MRTA) first-ever combined Legislative Day and Leadership Summit were also given.

WMMC Auxiliary Accepting Applications for Healthcare Scholarships

Warrensburg, MO (January 29, 2026) — The Western Missouri Medical Center (WMMC) Auxiliary is nowaccepting applications for healthcare career scholarships. Scholarships are available to Johnson County residents or students attending the University of Central Missouri, State Fair Community College, or the University of Missouri– Kansas City who are pursuing a career in healthcare.

LC C-1 New Administrators 2026-2027

The Lafayette County Board of Education recently announced the selection of Dr Theresa Christian to be the new Superintendent, effective July 1, 2026. Outgoing Superintendent Aaron Knipmeyer will continue in that role until the end of June. Nikki McElwee was also selected to be the new elementary school principal starting August 1, 2026. We will be talking with them more in the future, including indepth information regarding their new upcoming roles. Let’s welcome our newest Huskers!

Grants Announced for 4-H, FFA Youth Service Projects

Missouri Director of Agriculture Announces Grants for 4-H, FFA Youth Service Projects Seventeen youth organizations will receive funds for 2026. (JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.) – Director of Agriculture Chris Chinn announced that 17 youth groups from across Missouri were awarded grants from the Missouri Department of Agriculture’s 2026 Building Our American Communities grant program. Seven local chapters of the National FFA Organization and 10 Missouri 4-H clubs statewide have been awarded funds for their community service projects this year.
