Lafayette County Cares Coalition Hosts 2nd Annual Stomp the Stigma 5K Connect
The Lafayette County Cares Coalition proudly hosted the 2nd Annual Stomp the Stigma 5K Connect on Saturday, May 30th, bringing together community members, local organizations, advocates, and supporters in a united effort to raise awareness about mental health and substance use conditions and suicide prevention, while promoting hope, connection, and wellness.

Minnie Mae Day celebrates courage
June 13, 2026 marked the first annual Minnie Mae Day celebration in Lexington. Many events and people came together on this day to celebrate and honor Minnie Mae Talbott, a hidden treasure of Lexington, starting in the morning with a play and ending in the evening with a country music concert called “Voices of Courage.”


Booster Club golf tournament is a big success
The Lexington All Sports Booster Club hosted their annual fundraising Golf Tournament on June 6 at Shirkey Golf Course in Richmond, and again this year, the tournament raised a large amount of money to support the Sports programs in the Lexington School District.

Juneteenth agenda announced
The Lafayette County Juneteenth Foundation Board proudly announces its agenda for the 2026 Juneteenth Celebration. The 2026 celebration will be held Friday, June 26, 2026 thru Sunday, June 28, 2026. Activities will be held in Higginsville and Lexington. The theme is “Freedom: Yesterday’s Legacy, Today’s Promise, and Tomorrow’s Hope!” Alcohol is not permitted. Everyone is welcome. Children under the age of 14 need to be accompanied by an adult.
Shroyer graduates from University of Montana
Nate Shroyer graduated cum laude from the University of Montana with a BSF Bachelor of Science in Foresty with a minor in Fire Science and Ecology.

Area students graduate from UCM
Area residents were among around 1,700 individuals who met graduate and undergraduate degree requirements and were eligible to participate in the University of Central Missouri’s (UCM) Spring 2026 Commencement exercises on Friday, May 8 and Saturday, May 9.

COC scholarships
The Lexington Area Chamber of Commerce offered two $1,500 scholarships to graduating high school seniors who attend Lexington High School. These students expressed an interest in improving the community of Lexington by working or living in the Lexington area in the future. DARing to cook
These ladies were young, “Junior” members of the Lafayette-Lexington Chapter of the DAR when “Missouri Juniors DARing to Cook Book!” was published about 50 years ago. In honor of America’s 250th, each week leading up to July 4 we will publish one of their recipes and one of the quotes sprinkled among the pages of the book. Enjoy! ——— DATE PUDDING
