Dance the night away to help light up Lexington
Community members and area neighbors will have a chance to enjoy a night of music and dancing while supporting a holiday lighting upgrade when Project Christmas Lights 2026 hosts a fundraiser Saturday, June 6 at The LEX in Lexington. Doors will open at 6 p.m., and entertainment by Elwood and the Blues Masters will run from 7 to 10 p.m.

Yard of the Month
The Lexington Garden Club has selected the home of Michael and Stephanie Sanders, 1111 Francis St., as Yard of the Month for May. The front yard has a beautiful shade garden, and the side and back yard are lovely as well. It shows a lot of hard work, care and love for flowers — a yard to be proud of. Other winners were: second place, 801 Laurie St.; third place, 12151 Bus. Highway 13; fourth place, 1003 Highland Ave. Honorable mention: 712 Highland Ave., 618 Highland Ave., 403 Highland, 306 Highland Ave., 213 Second St., 16421 and 16423 Summit Camp Rd., 16427 and 16425 Summit Ridge Rd.

American Legion
American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary recently awarded $500 scholarships to 2026 LHS graduates Conner Soendker (right) and Amanda Rodekohr (left). Presentations were completed by Post Commander Brady Snyder and Auxiliary President Jennifer Poulin.
DARing to cook
These ladies were young, “Junior” members of the Lafayette-Lexington Chapter of the DAR when “Missouri Juniors DARing to Cook Book!” was published about 50 years ago. A Night in Paris – LHS Prom 2026
Lexington High School's prom last weekend brought Paris to lite with its theme, 'A Night in Paris.” Students dressed up and spent the night dancing, taking pictures, and hanging out with friends. One of the most anticipated moments of the night was the crowning of prom royalty, with Blake Kaullen named prom king and Hunter Adkins crowned prom queen. Students want to thank Christa Simpson and the prom committee for their dedication and hard work in creating such a memorable and beautifully executed event. Their efforts made the evening truly special for everyone in attendance.

King is Lexington’s first female Fire Chief
Former Lexington EMS Director Erika King recently took over as Fire Chief in Lexington, becoming the first female Fire Chief in the city’s history.

Shoes collected
The Lexington Rotary Club collected a total of 450 pairs of shoes, 31 pairs of socks, and $740 in donations during its annual Shoes For Orphan Souls shoe drive. Pictured with the shoes are Olivia Lundin, Marcus Lundin, local shoe drive chairman Dave Rich, Rachelle Banhart, Earl Parris, Jim Martin, Steve Fuller, Aubrey Burk and Nila Burk. Rotary District 6040 collected a total of 29,417 pairs of shoes.
